What is Bisi Bele Bath Masala?
Bisi Bele Bath Masala is a traditional South Indian spice blend used to prepare Bisi Bele Bath, a hot lentil-rice dish from Karnataka. The name literally means “hot lentil rice dish” in Kannada. The masala gives the dish its signature spicy, tangy, and slightly sweet flavor.
Ingredients:
- Coriander seeds, dry red chilies, chana dal, urad dal, fenugreek seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, black pepper, mustard seeds, turmeric, asafoetida (hing), curry leaves, dry coconut (optional), tamarind powder
